Week 1 First Post
Week One Blog Post
My first week back at school for the fall semester has been going okay so far. Specifically when it comes to the course Human-Computer Interaction and Usability, I feel that I am going at an okay start. During the first Zoom session, I will admit that I zoned out a lot. Not necessarily because I was bored of the material but because it was harder to pay attention when there wasn't a premade visual such as a PowerPoint to go along with the lecture. Luckily, the Zoom session was recorded so I can go back and pay attention to the parts that I may have missed or didn't understand.
When it comes to the tasks and assignments for this class, I had a slightly easier time. I had previously used the virtual workspace for another class almost a year ago and still had the applications on my laptop so I thought that logging on wouldn't be a problem for me. Unfortunately, I had issues with connecting as it was constantly saying I had the wrong credentials when typing in the password to log on. After a few tries, I just gave up trying. Hopefully for next week's assignment I will be able to fix the issue.
The assignment that involves the introduction of ourselves to the rest of the class was interesting to me. In the two years that I have been at Mercer, I never had an instructor value the importance of our Canvas profile. I never had a profile picture and I did not know that one could add a bio so applying that to my account was a new experience. I realize it is important to have your profile be easily identifiable to get to know your classmates a little better and recognize them outside of just their name.
The last assignment of the week involves this blog. I have always wanted to create a blog or a website not neccessarily to share publically but just a digital way to discuss things I would like to talk about in a format that can be easily organized and viewed in the future. While I don't know how exactly this blog will teach me about website usability, I am open to the process.
I am eager to see how this class plays out for me and what I will learn from the experience.
Thanks for reading! ☺
