Week 5 Reflection Post
Week Five Blog Post
Upon personal reflection, the biggest change I made involved making the ideas of my app more fleshed out in the revised prototype. I wanted it to be as user friendly as possible, so I had to make sure that the features I wanted within the app made sense. I considered a lot of possibilities of what a user may want or encounter when revising my creation and if something was missing that could possibly improve the usability of the app then I added it. For example, something missing was the ability to turn on/off the alarm for an individual entry that was already a part of an active schedule. In the draft, the user could only set an alarm for an entry through the 'Create a Schedule' tab or through turning on/off every entry in the 'Notifications' tab. I imagined this would be frustrating to only have the ability to access the alarm features through these tabs so in the revision I made sure that users can toggle the time alarm on/off in each individual pet entry in the 'Active Schedules' tab.
I definitely feel that my prototype matches my user stories better. I feel that specifically for my persona, where their particular story involved finding the correct diet for their guinea pig, the revised prototype has the ability to select specific parts of the recommended diet that the user wants to choose for their pet. So instead of having to add the entire list of food recommendations for guinea pigs to her one pet, she can instead choose any of the foods listed and even select portions. This thinks about the user's access to choice whether a food may be more location accessible for her or if the price of a recommendation is just too high.
Ultimately, Figma's AI automation helped make the design process for my app a lot quicker and smoother. It is probably not something I would use again but it is an option if one is on a time crunch with their product design. The ability to be able to click through the prototype and not just having one default main page was impressive to me. It made the prototype more dynamic instead of static as I imagined myself as a user. It even made me consider parts like the color scheme for my app that I would not otherwise have thought about if I made my prototype through pen and paper.
